Heart Hunters named Best Folk Band - 2018 Creative Loafing Best of Atlanta

Heart Hunters' music might sound delicate on first listen, but it packs a heavy punch. Americana Highways

The record’s alternately haunting and wistful folk songs find De Man and Blackbird engaging in potent social and spiritual commentary, clinging to silver linings while wrestling with an increasingly turbulent country. But while the subject matter is often heavy, the duo’s hook-laden melodicism offers all the balance the record needs.”

The Portland Mercury, 2014

The duo is on a two-month tour of the Western US and the Midwest, showcasing a rich catalog of original songs and choice covers, sharing instrumental duties on guitar, upright bass and pedal steel, and singing in shiny harmony. The bi-coastal Sweethearts sometimes hail from Portland, Oregon and sometimes from Atlanta, Georgia or Cochabamba, Bolivia, and tour with their two kids. The duo is sometimes likened to The Civil Wars, Gillian Welch & David Rawlings or Sacco & Vanzetti. The Portland Tribune called their first full length CD, Becoming the Tender Animal, “a rich, meditative listening experience with subtle humor,” and the Portland Mercury calls singer Brianna Lynn’s voice “striking” and “cloudless”. The couple have plans with grammy-nominated songwriter/producer Peter Case for a new record later this year. ”

The Isthmus, Madison, WI, Summer 2016

Informed by different backgrounds, the duo have found a balance of beauty and storytelling in their music that speaks from the heart of traditional folk music, but in a modern light.”
